Artist Profile: Venki

Venki, born in India, creates innocent and simple worlds with stylized lines and fresh, vivid colors. After completing a fine arts degree, he lent his talents to over 60 children’s books, earning many awards in his country for cover design and illustration. Venki also pent 10 years as an editorial illustrator for The Indian Express, a major English daily. He has now gone back to his first love and is working with various publishers of children’s books, both in India and abroad. His most recent recognition in the world of children's literature is the 2010 Kerala State Balasahitya Institute Award for best book design for "Kalillam Padikkam" by Aravind Gupta.
